in 2006, a number of artists and designers living and working in, and around, Kirkcaldy decided to form a group called Blacksand Contemporary Arts. The aim was to provide mutual support, create links with other art groups and artists and establish a programme of exhibitions and events. Blacksand also aims to promote awareness and development of contemporary art practice within the Kirkcaldy area. Anyone interested in joining please get in touch.

A huge thanks to Pat Bray and Angie Turner, who both recently left Blacksand after years of very hard work. Blacksand wouldn't be where it is today without their dedication. Good luck to you both with all your future endeavours!

After all the hard work of 2010 and 2011, Blacksand are taking a bit of a breather. The plan is to return with a group show at the start of 2013. In the meantime we will post any news from the group and individual members here, so keep checking back!
